I hear many folk over here try to tell me that the current Democrat Congress is helpless cuz they don't have big enough majorities to override a Bush veto ... amazing how the three Republican Congresses for the last 6 years of Clinton didn't seem to have the same problem, since they managed to put through budgets that led to considerable improvements in the US economy ... then again, they didn't whine about not having a big enough one, they just went ahead and did what they had been elected to do, working with the majorities they had ... Still, you might be right, given that Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid are currently actively working to try to fix the current economic crisis to the best of their respective "abilities" ... remind me what is happening with unemployment rates, even as we discuss the situation ? brooklyn – so where are all the various wonderful things that the Democrat-controlled Congress *tried* to do ? Surely the Democrats who have controlled Congress for the past almost-two-years are working with The One to cure the ills which you ascribe solely to the “lame duck” ? After all, since the last two Budgets were Democrat budgets, everything should be hunky-dory, should it not ?

You might consider what happened the last time the economy went through this sort of free-fall – in 1929 … back then, a Republican President did the things that The One says he’s going to do – and sent the planet into the Great Depression …

Seems like we are going to learn if The One will suck as much as a Hoover …

Especially with this president, who would finally get to experience some of that cowboying he is so fond of. But I can’t get totally behind this method of expulsion. Because if the Clinton’s had to move out of the White House on a moments notice they would have surely forgotten to take with them the “W” key on every computer keyboard in the house.
