brooklyn - so where are all the various wonderful things that the Democrat-controlled Congress *tried* to do ? And that the Eeeevil Boooosh (TM) vetoed ? (Here's a hint - Dubya's Vetoes ) ...

Interestingly enough, Bush's most recent 3 vetoes *were* successfully overridden ...

As you say, you are entitled to your opinion, but not to your own facts, when the reality overrides *your* "facts" ...

Trixie Trouble - I'm *ahead* of brooklyn ...

I hear many folk over here try to tell me that the current Democrat Congress is helpless cuz they don't have big enough majorities to override a Bush veto ... amazing how the three Republican Congresses for the last 6 years of Clinton didn't seem to have the same problem, since they managed to put through budgets that led to considerable improvements in the US economy ... then again, they didn't whine about not having a big enough one, they just went ahead and did what they had been elected to do, working with the majorities they had ...

Still, you might be right, given that Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid are currently actively working to try to fix the current economic crisis to the best of their respective "abilities" ... remind me what is happening with unemployment rates, even as we discuss the situation ?

Alasdair:

Hmmm...

Did Hoover adopt Keynesian principles by supporting a stimulus package?

"Surely the Democrats who have controlled Congress for the past almost-two-years . . . "

"Controlled," really, without a cloture majority in the Senate or a veto override majority in the House?

One of the accurate statments Reagan made (if he did not actually follow) is that everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.

Just a thought, folks ...

If we are indeed in the midst of a "Spring Awakening", how come the economy is collapsing faster and faster ?

Surely the Democrats who have controlled Congress for the past almost-two-years are working with The One to cure the ills which you ascribe solely to the "lame duck" ? After all, since the last two Budgets were Democrat budgets, everything should be hunky-dory, should it not ?

You might consider what happened the last time the economy went through this sort of free-fall - in 1929 ... back then, a Republican President did the things that The One says he's going to do - and sent the planet into the Great Depression ...

Seems like we are going to learn if The One will suck as much as a Hoover ...

It would be nice to see some burly movers saddle up to the White House with only one objective in mind…forced removal. Especially with this president, who would finally get to experience some of that cowboying he is so fond of. But I can’t get totally behind this method of expulsion. Because if the Clinton’s had to move out of the White House on a moments notice they would have surely forgotten to take with them the “W” key on every computer keyboard in the house. And we would have missed out on possibly the best prank ever.

Remember "Fargo"

I always wondered what sound is made when a hard drive goes through a wood chipper.

Dylan, I forgot that with PM's it's a zero-sum game. In with the new and out with the old...as soon as possible. I think that's a brilliant idea.

Are you kidding me? He's up to his eyeballs deleting and shredding! Didn't I see on the crawler last week (artfully hidden among Presidential stuff) that all e-mails leading up to the illegal wire-tapping malarky have been subpoena'd by the investigating committee. They know only too well what's going on.
